Because holy crap I want one.

very.
but who cares?
![]() 11/30/2014 at 14:26 |

Very reasonable
![]() 11/30/2014 at 14:28 |

The only down side would be the fuel consumption.

this broke ass college kid.

and insurance. And the urge to drive like I'm in a movie car chase everywhere.

not shit at all.
![]() 11/30/2014 at 14:32 |

LOL good luck then
in all seriousness though actual driving probably isn't that bad (fuel consumption not-with standing).
But if something breaks...you paying for dodge viper parts. Think about that.

Don't forget about the wheelspin
![]() 11/30/2014 at 14:33 |

It sold for $19k.

are viper parts expensive?
![]() 11/30/2014 at 14:37 |
|
that's why I want one! Although buying tired every month will probably be old.....

I know someone who got one of these for their 16th birthday, all jacked up and flamed out. And sadly, thanks to 9th grade gym class, I know exactly why they had it 0_o
My advice: Steer clear, unless you actually need it for doing truck and fun things. And you have infinite gas money.
Ooooor, rock that shit like a future hipster. 8-)

Depends entirely on the part. I sort of know a viper owner and its very much a parts bin car. Some stuff is shared with other cheap gm platform, some stuff is crazy expensive.

Is this anything like the SVT lightning that can't tow anything or fit anything in the bed? Just get a viper lol
![]() 11/30/2014 at 14:41 |

Not as expensive as you might think. Some problem areas in that generation of Rams are the exhaust and bed rust, as well as window fitment. For the viper parts, I have no idea what could go wrong.

some are, some arent.
I'd be more concerned about finding them.
and if its a cheaper part (say, spark plugs) remember you have to buy 10 of the fucking things.

Yes especially in that size...

Oh lawd it's bad http://www.tirerack.com/tires/TireSear…

My Dad gets 16-17 mpg in his V6 Ram of this generation. It also handles like a small boat in rough waters.

Saw one in the parking lot at Costco the other day. Literally getting groceries.
It was two cars from an E63 AMG wagon.

I say great. I DDed a 2010 tahoe for a while, and i loved it. It was by no means fast, but honestly, it was pretty fun to drive when i needed it to be. good passing power, and as usual the sbc sounded fucking fantastic. super practical obviously as well. The only thing is gas mileage. it's such a cliche, and it's kinda funny at first how bad it is, but after a while it is just absolutely heinous how many gallons of gas a full-frame vehicle goes though.

That's better than buying 16 plugs for a Chrysler Eagle, Apache, or Hellcat motor... ;-)

Just a heads up, single cabs are all 6 speed manual, double cabs are all automatic. Should help you decide.
![]() 11/30/2014 at 15:45 |

yeah I know that much. Hate the double cab, always have. Not just on this either, but all pickups.

They are actually very DD-able, albeit a bit thirsty. The motor is rock solid assuming it hasn't been beaten within an inch of it's life or neglected.
The MTX (Tremec 6-spd) equipped SWB regular cab RAM SRT-10 is a hoot. The ATX (48RE) quipped LWB QuadCab is even more thirsty and only has 4 speeds.
There are a few nits, though... It skates across uneven pavement underpower and the steering is quite slow and heavy.
I would actually consider one if I could fit it in my garage (it's a double, but with narrow single doors)...
![]() 11/30/2014 at 15:50 |

well, IDK of that gen of viper motor was single spark or dual spark...it could be 20 plugs *shudders*
![]() 11/30/2014 at 15:56 |
|
No dual spark on the V-10... Not much packaging space and not as much motivation for emissions improvement like on the high volume eagle-derived motors. 10.5 quarts of Synthetic oil will set you back more often....

Just don't get one and roll it and then ask if you popped a tire. . .
I would think that it would be like any other lowered pickup just with a big V-10 and big expensive tires that like to make smoke. . . you might want to find a cheap set of wheels to replace them with throw away tires when the smoky burn out urge hits just to save money. . .

Horrible idea, but oh well.

..a SNAP DOWN bedcover!?

Yes, it would appear so.
